CheckR

CheckR

Tray Email Notification Client

Do you have several email accounts that need checked regularly? CheckR is a simple program that sits in your system tray and checks to see if you have any new emails. If you have new mail a nice pop up will appear telling you. Isn’t that nice.
Checkr has the following features:

  • Supports POP and IMAP
  • Supports SSL connections
  • Unlimited Email Profiles
  • Profile Encryption for Security
  • Automatic new mail checking at a user defined interval.
  • Ability to run at startup
  • Chaning Tray Icon to reflect status
  • Skinnable Popup messages

Background
This is my first attempt at writing in C# using Microsoft Visual Studio. I have always wanted to make an app like this but the only other language I know for making desktop apps, Java, had its limitations (i.e. you can’t run a program without using a JVM). My introduction to .NET has been… well… interesting and it’s always great to learn new stuff, but I’m not a hardcore .NET fan yet.
