Small Update

Just to let you know of a few small tweaks I have made over today.

CheckR v1.2.1 was released today to fix a bug which made it crash when it tried to check mail more than once at the same time. So if you are using CheckR please go and download the latest version.

Also today I have updated my web design portfolio. It is now in the form of a cool flash magazine. This coincides with the update of this website design which was made earlier today. Why not go and check it out via my portfolio page.

New Site Design

So this is my new site design. As most of you know I practice my web design skills on my site quite a bit which is why the site is ever changing. This is now v9 of the site. I hope you enjoy the new look. As always comments/suggestions are more than welcome. Oh and here is a wee secret for you. This entire site was made using GIMP 2.0. No Photoshop at all! Enjoy.

My New Car

If you follow me on twitter you will already know I bought a new car last week. Its a Honda Civic 1.4i SL. Its been a great wee car so far. I’ve done 120 miles over the weekend and I’m quite enjoying driving it.

As usual I plan to add add a whole load of toys and mods to the car. I promise I’m not a boy racer… really. I have already put an air filter, new stereo and footwell neons in. So hopefully this car will last a bit longer than my last one… and the breaks won’t fail… and the suspension won’t break… and it won’t rust… and so on.

New Site Design v8

After reading through the great tutorial at NETTUTS yesterday I thought I would give it a bash and re-designed the site. I hope you like the new look. Any comments/suggestions are very welcome. And thanks again Collis for another great contribution. Enjoy.

New Job

So I started my new job yesterday at Aquidata Excel as a Trainee Software Engineer. It’s going well so far. The commute is the hardest part. I’m getting up at 5.45am to get the 6.40am train to arrive at work at 8.15am. I then get the 5.27pm train to get home at 7pm. So I’m a wee bit tired, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

Anyway, the job itself is good.The first task I have is to re-develop their website. After that I don’t know yet but looking forward to doing some proper programming. It means learning some new languages which is always good. Just ashame they are C# and ASP.NET, but never mind.

Hacked!

Last night my webserver was hacked. No real damage was done but all of my websites data was compromised and a lot of passwords needed changed. I even had to take GCMS down as it was a security flaw in the GCMS login page that lead to the hack.

It has taught my some very important lessons in website security and input sanitization. However being hacked is never a nice thing. I believe the culprit was iLLuz1on (sorry iLLuz1on). Hopefully I have learned my lesson and things like this won’t happen again.

Engaged

I thought I should write a small update informing people what is happening with my life. Last week was a very busy week. I had an interview with a company in Dyce for my industrial placement next year. So I’m hopeful I might get a job with them. On the same day it was my brothers 18th which was great. We went go-karting then had a big game of fitba which was good. I hadn’t had a good game of fitba for a while so I enjoyed that greatly. Made me realise how unfit I am though.

And then I suppose the biggest news is that I got engaged last thursday. Me and Fiona have been going out for almost two and a half years now and we decided the time was right. We are both very happy and look forward to our life together. We got engaged on hopeman beach which really was something. Here is a pic I took just the other day from Hopeman harbour.

New Design v7

I’ve been so busy over the last few months I’ve had no time to work on my site, but I decided a new look was in order. So this is my fresh new look. It’s a lot lighter and corporate than the last one. So enjoy. Some sites I use for inspiration include css remix, best web gallery, web designer wall and dezinerfolio.

Exams… what else can I say?

Well thats me back. Back to uni which equals internet! Our internet in our new house hasn’t been set up so I have been offline for the last week or so. But thats me back. Although I probably wont be posting a lot as I am busy with exams and work.

I had my first exam today. Graphics. It went quite well. Much of what I expected so can’t complain. Not looking forward to my nex exam though. Programming Language Definition & Implementation. Not nice I tell you. So we’ll see how I get on. Peace.

I’ve moved house… again

Well the time has come again for me and my family to move house. We were only in our last house for 2 and a half years. But its a really nice house and the move went relatively well. I got tonsilitis again the day before we moved and the removal men were almost 3 hours late. But we got there.

Anyway the main reason I’m writing this post is to inform you that I won’t have internet access this week so won’t be able to post I’m afraid. I hope everyone had a great christmas and new year and I will be back soon.
