Dev7studios Redesign v3

Last night I launched my new version of my personal portfolio site dev7studios. It was literally a two day redesign with a very minimal feel which I am fairly happy with. It gets to the point, which is what I want it to do.

Really the requirements for the site were fairly simple. Mainly I wanted somewhere to showcase my work and redesigning the site gave me an excuse to get rid of some old work that is no longer relevant. It also has an About page which explains the purpose of the site.

Finally I wanted to add a new section called Resources. This is an idea kindly borrowed from the guys over at orderedlist.com. Basically it’s a section of blog posts that are updated on a regular basis. This means that the resources will always be fresh and “cutting edge” so that if people come to the site to learn new stuff, it will always be up to date.

So that’s the new dev7studios site. Let me know what you think, and if you feel like you could contribute any useful resources to the site then by all means let me know.

New Pricing Scheme and Competition on MakeSomeTime

Today on MakeSomeTime I released a totally new pricing scheme where you pay $1/invoice. I felt that the old pricing scheme just wasn’t working for the site and I decided to go with something that fits more with the “keep it simple” ethic of MakeSomeTime. And to celebrate I am giving away $100 worth of MakeSomeTime credit. So head on over and check out what’s happening on MakeSomeTime.

Uptime – Website Uptime Monitoring

The guys over at CodeCanyon have a competition on just now where you can win up $6000+ worth of stuff. So I thought I would have a pop and today my entry was approved. Uptime is a website uptime monitoring tool that can be used to monitor any number of sites or individual pages. If one of your sites goes down you can check it manually on the Uptime site or get alerted by email so you can check your “downed” site out.

So head on over and check out the demo. It only costs $5.

MakeSomeTime Reviewed on Lifehacker

The other day I was treated as I discovered that MakeSomeTime had been reviewed on Lifehacker.com. If you live in the web world you will realise how big a deal this is, not to mention the traffic and sign-ups I’ve received since Friday night (I actually think the site was down at one point).

“…we like MakeSomeTime for how easy it is for users to track time from anywhere you happen to be working—from home or the local coffee shop.”

This all came literally just after I had implemented invoices and paid pricing plans to the site. So head on over and check out the review and let me know what you think.

MakeSomeTime Now Does Invoicing

I’ve been working fairly hard recently on MakeSomeTime to integrate invoicing into the system. So today we pushed out the upgrade and now you can track your time & invoice like a pro. This follows some smaller upgrades which lead up to invoicing such as being able to add addresses to clients and budget management for projects.

So head on over and check out the blog post and login (or sign up) and get invoicing!

Note: I’ve also updated the demo video on the homepage so let me know what you think of that aswell.
