The other day I was treated as I discovered that MakeSomeTime had been reviewed on Lifehacker.com. If you live in the web world you will realise how big a deal this is, not to mention the traffic and sign-ups I’ve received since Friday night (I actually think the site was down at one point).

“…we like MakeSomeTime for how easy it is for users to track time from anywhere you happen to be working—from home or the local coffee shop.”
This all came literally just after I had implemented invoices and paid pricing plans to the site. So head on over and check out the review and let me know what you think.

At this time of year (generally at the end) we like to look back and take stock of the events that occurred during the year. So I thought I would let you recollect with me the events that have happened on this blog over 2009.

Maybe you’ve heard the childlike excitement circulating when all new fads start to show some promise. Maybe you’ve heard about Smashing Magazine’s
The Death Of The Blog Post article. Maybe you’ve read it. Maybe you’ve heard names like
Jason Santa Maria or
Dustin Curtis and wondered what all the fuss is about. Maybe you’ve heard of the whole “
You’re killing me, Zappos” saga or the “
Dear AmericanAirlines” letter. Maybe you’re fed up with me saying maybe. However there is one thing all of these things have in common. They have started a movement.

Today I humbly present v14 of gilbertpellegrom.co.uk. The theme is built upon the WP-TYPO theme designed by Chris Coyier and released by Digging Into Wordpress. Although a mainly typographical theme there are a few images about the place, mostly in the form of icons. So huge respect has to go to the great Rogie King at Komodomedia for his amazing work.

The theme for Blog Action Day 2009 is Climate Change. Although I don’t believe global warming is going to kill us all, I do believe that we should be looking after the world we live in. So in aid of trying to get the world to help out (as helping the environment is down to us as human beings) here are some things you could think about while using your PC:
- Head over to the Blog Action Day website, find out what is going on and, if you have a blog, join in.
- Turn down your screen brightness and save some power.
- If your going on holiday, un-plug your PC (and other devices) from the wall.
- Don’t use sleep mode. Instead turn off your PC completely.
- Use power saving settings on your PC (in Vista go to Control Panel > Power Options and pick the “Power Saver” option).
- If your building a PC, check what power is needed and try and limit the Watts in your power supply (ask yourself “do I really need a 900W PSU?”).
- Do lot’s of printing? Check you carbon footprint with the HP Carbon Footprint Calculator for printing.
- Just incase anyone is actually still using CRT monitors, don’t! LCD’s provide up to 70% power savings and up to twice the lifespan.
- Turn off you PC and go for a walk. Get out and enjoy the environment. Don’t take it for granted.
