Ultimate jQuery Slider

Ultimate jQuery Slider
Today I’m going to show you how to create the Ultimate jQuery Slider which is really more like a website template than just a slider. I first wrote this code for my portfolio website dev7studios so you can see an example of it being used in real life there. Although the jQuery itseld is a wee bit complex overall it’s not as hard an effect to achieve as you might think.

Wordpress Theme Framework Launch

I’ve been busy over the last wee while creating yet another helpful product. This time it’s to help Wordpress theme developers. It’s called the Wordpress Theme Framework (or WTF for short).

Wordpress Theme Framework

The first thing I should say is WTF is not a theme. It is a theme framework. It’s designed to easily add all the extra theme functionality you get in all the latest themes without having to code it all by hand. I’m not going to say much more about it here other than go and check it out. Oh and let me know what you think.

Help the Environment While Using Your PC – Blog Action Day 09

The theme for Blog Action Day 2009 is Climate Change. Although I don’t believe global warming is going to kill us all, I do believe that we should be looking after the world we live in. So in aid of trying to get the world to help out (as helping the environment is down to us as human beings) here are some things you could think about while using your PC:

  • Head over to the Blog Action Day website, find out what is going on and, if you have a blog, join in.
  • Turn down your screen brightness and save some power.
  • If your going on holiday, un-plug your PC (and other devices) from the wall.
  • Don’t use sleep mode. Instead turn off your PC completely.
  • Use power saving settings on your PC (in Vista go to Control Panel > Power Options and pick the “Power Saver” option).
  • If your building a PC, check what power is needed and try and limit the Watts in your power supply (ask yourself “do I really need a 900W PSU?”).
  • Do lot’s of printing? Check you carbon footprint with the HP Carbon Footprint Calculator for printing.
  • Just incase anyone is actually still using CRT monitors, don’t! LCD’s provide up to 70% power savings and up to twice the lifespan.
  • Turn off you PC and go for a walk. Get out and enjoy the environment. Don’t take it for granted.

dev7studios

I’m pleased to announce the launch of my new portfolio website dev7studios. I hope you like the site and as always I would love any feedback people have of the site. It was very much an experiment of technical ability (a single page site with a lot of javascript) and an attempt at a re-brand (explained below).
