NETTUTS

4.30.2008 | 1 Comment

After the massive success of PSDTUTS, Eden Creative Communities decided to branch out into tutorials on other subjects. Since one of the most requested types of tutorials has always been for web development, that seemed like a logical place to go. So Eden Creative Communities has just launched NETTUTS for us. NETTUTS is tackling pretty much any subject to do with building websites including:

  • Complete step by step website builds
  • HTML and CSS techniques
  • Flash effects and techniques
  • Javascript and AJAX
  • Dreamweaver and other tools
  • General web development skills

Although NETTUTS has just launched few days ago, there are some very nice and useful content for web developers like us. For example, Creating a PayPal Payment Form and Build a Sleek Portfolio Site from Scratch. I strongly recommend you subscribing to NETTUTS, so that you can receive top quality website tutorials as soon as you can. I am sure NETTUTS will not disappoint you.

Daily Browsing

Today akamike asked:

how many tabs does the average person (geek) have open on their first/main browse. For some, like me, that’s the morning with a cup of tea/coffee. For others, it’s part of an evening ritual after work.

After some discussion I decided I woud post my answer. I don’t have many tabs open during my morning browse. Rather I use 2 applications. A personal Netvibes home page, and an all-in-one IM app called Digsby.

On Netvibes I use the following widgets:

  • Bookmarks
  • Local Weather
  • 2 Flickr image feeds
  • Box.net web storage
  • Gmail checker
  • Uni PopMail checker
  • Google Calendar
  • Twitter
  • 15+ feeds

On Digsby I use:

  • Windows Live IM
  • Gmail checker
  • Uni PopMail checker
  • Twitter

So, like akamike, I ask my readers: How many tabs (or windows) do you find yourself opening when you do your “main” daily browse?

Engaged

4.16.2008 | 2 Comments

I thought I should write a small update informing people what is happening with my life. Last week was a very busy week. I had an interview with a company in Dyce for my industrial placement next year. So I’m hopeful I might get a job with them. On the same day it was my brothers 18th which was great. We went go-karting then had a big game of fitba which was good. I hadn’t had a good game of fitba for a while so I enjoyed that greatly. Made me realise how unfit I am though.

And then I suppose the biggest news is that I got engaged last thursday. Me and Fiona have been going out for almost two and a half years now and we decided the time was right. We are both very happy and look forward to our life together. We got engaged on hopeman beach which really was something. Here is a pic I took just the other day from Hopeman harbour.

So thats whats happening with me. I hope all is well in the world. Peace.

No this is not a post about Easter Eggs (like chocolate eggs). A virtual “Easter egg” is an intentional hidden message or feature in an object such as a movie, book, CD, DVD, computer program, or video game. And here is a list of the 101 Coolest Easter Eggs. Enjoy.
